Problem on Franson NMEA Service

Thu Apr 24, 2014 6:29 am

Dear Support,

My GGS 4.0.0.84, Patch.v4 4.0.0.940 all plugins green.

I found problem on Franson NMEA Service.

The first occurrence on 24th April 2014 at 01:22 local time, the Franson NMEA Service stop by it self (I check under Windows service panel).

Restarting Service from SiteAdmin\Service tab did not solve the problem.

Reboot the Server for first time also did not solve the problem.
The Franson NMEA Service in Windows service status Started, also on SiteAdmin\Service tab the status Running. But when I open VT Application, all vehicles status red.

I check the Server status, the RAM usage very low, The Franson NMEA service usage less than 200 MB, usually more than 1 GB.

Reboot the Server for second time solve the problem, I check the RAM usage for Franson NMEA service more than 1 GB. Checking on VT Application now all vehicle start updating with status green and yellow.

This condition not last for long (less than an hour) the Franson NMEA Service stop again. This time either re-starting from SiteAdmin\Service tab, or restarting from Windows service administration panel or rebooting Server unable to solve the problem.

Yes, the Franson NMEA Service status is started/running, but when opening VT application, all vehicles status still red.

Please help. Thank you.

When you have problems with the server, this is the first check list.

1. Check the Terminal. Do you see any errors?
More info on the Terminal here: topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10740

2. Check the error logs. You find the error logs under C:\GpsGateServer\ErrorLog

3. Check the Windows Event Log. You find it under Windows Control Panel -> Administrative Tools

The most common problem when all devices goes off line, and as you describe the service does not seem to start properly is that a failed re-start of the service earlier has left the BlockEnabled file. Follow those steps:

1. Stop the Service under SiteAdmin -> Service
2. Delete the file C:\GpsGateServer\Franson NMEA Service\BlockEnabled (if it exists)
3. Start the Service again under SiteAdmin -> Service

Now check if the devices comes back online again.

If you have a server with at least 25 licenses, we also recommend that you use the WatchDog service, which will notify you by email or SMS when something is wrong with the server:

This: "Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7601.18247, time stamp: 0x521eaf24" is something that happens deep down in Windows. Do you have Windows Update active? Make sure you have installed the latest updates from Microsoft.

This: "Faulting module name: myodbc5.dll, version: 5.1.8.0, time stamp: 0x4cc9c4cb" is something that happend inside MySQL ODBC. If you contact support we can assist in replacing the ODBC driver with a direct database access.

Hello Mr. Johan

My NMEA service suddenly stopped working, unable to start by clicking on the start button, error log showing - 'Error: Not Found', Terminal window showing -'Unable to get messages. (undefined)'. While opening the application, it is endlessly loading with blank screen.
Please help me to solve this problem.

Thank you

Regards
Amar
