GUIDE: Map links in your custom report

Thu Jul 12, 2012 6:03 pm

This guide applies to you running GpsGate Server 3.0 with reporting plugin version 3.0.0.3433 or newer.

This guide may require some basic knowledge of writing SQL queries.

You can read more about reports in the Reporting Manual:
http://docs.gpsgate.com/help/reporting

Case:
Adding links (click actions) in custom made report, produced before 3.0.0.3433, that place a marker/shows track on the Map view.

Adding map links to your report
Open your previously created report.

1. Check if UserID is an available Field, by opening the Insert field menu (right mouse button). If it does, continue to step 3.

2. If UserID is not included:
Open the Query Editor and click your report's Query to the left. You will have to add UserID to the selection. For a query without any joins this should work:

SELECT
UserID,
PeriodStart,
PeriodEnd,
[...]

With a query using joins, you will need to prefix UserID with one of the table names. For example "EventProvider01.UserID".

Make sure the query executes, save and return to your report.

3. Right click on the cell you want to link to Map view, and choose On click. The cell action window appears.

4. Choose Action; Show marker or Draw track. The Parameters settings are shown below.

5. Map UserID to UserID and TimeStampStart/End to SamplingStart/End (or in some cases Start/EndTime).

6. Click OK and save the report.

With the report enabled in a Application, preview it and check that the links work.

Regards,
Thomas

Sir,
I performed following steps in order to get link to map in TR 1000 Trip & Idle (Detailed) However I could not find Start Time & Stop Time for the field TIMESTAMPSTART & TIMESTAMPEND instead in selected Sampling Start & Sampling End. But when I click the link on report it doesnt do anything. Please advice me where I am going wrong.

1. Login to SiteAdmin
2. Click Reporting and open your report definition
3. Right click the cell where you would like to put your draw track link
4. Choose "On click" select "Draw Track" for action
5. Select which field containing UserID, Start Time and Stop Time.
6. Click OK.
7. Save your report definition.

You can add "onclick -> Draw Track" action to the report.
This will create a link which will draw a track on the map when the user clicks it.

1. Login to SiteAdmin
2. Click Reporting and open your report definition
3. Right click the cell where you would like to put your draw track link
4. Choose "On click" select "Draw Track" for action
5. Select which field containing UserID, Start Time and Stop Time.
6. Click OK.
7. Save report definition.

TR1000 should already have this feature, as well as all reports you can install from GpsGate.

Please make sure all your plugins are up to date. All "green" under SiteAdmin -> Plugins.

Johan
