http://forum.gpsgate.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10315

To monitor data communication between tracker and server you can use the "Terminal". More info here:
http://forum.gpsgate.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10740

If you can see data coming in from the GPS tracker in the Terminal, but you still don't get a position on the map, you can send the output from the Terminal to us together with information about your GPS tracker and we will take a look at it. Send it to "support at gpsgate . com"

Commands

For information on how to send commands back to the device contact GpsGate Support.

Tried Helios today. Couldnt get the device online. The data as recd in the terminal is as like this:
[2011-11-28 19:27:02] (171.224.143.61:1035/StarCom/tcp) Disconnect

[2011-11-28 19:26:08] (171.224.143.61:1035/StarCom/tcp) Client: $(,[0x06][0x00][0xE0]L[0xD3][0x90]b[0xB7]G[0xCB]2[0x87][0x8C][0xF9]k[0x01][0xC6]e[0x89][0x1F][0xDF][0x8F][0xEF][0xE9][0xD6]B[0xB5][0x01]=[0xA4][0x99]^[0xA3][0x09][0xFE]s

[2011-11-28 19:26:02] (171.224.143.61:1035/StarCom/tcp) Connect

Secondly, is it necessary to use UDP. Cos I couldnt find an option to configure UDP in starcom applications.
Thanks

The Starcom plugin currently only works using Starcom EAI. This is a "proxy" from Starcom which you install on your server. And you set it up as described in the guide above.

Helios -> Starcom EAI -> GpsGate Server.

We currently donät have the protocol documents for direct communication. If you have information for the direct protocol, please send it to support@gpsgate.com and we can implement support for it.

Johan

Cant get it to work.
1. starcom's routing application doesnt allow udp route creations.
2. Route created with tcp are only successful at port 232. Rest all other ports including 7777, produce below error

Route.2> Error 10061
Route.2> Not binded.
Route.2> Closed.
Failed initializing Route.2!!!

Thanks

Make sure you route to the IP address where you have GpsGate Server installed.

On which server have you installed Starcom EAI? Which LAN IP address does it have?
On which server have you installed GpsGate Server? Which LAN IP address does it have?

Both UDP and TCP should work.
