FM4200 Harsh Braking/Acceleration

Tue Nov 01, 2011 12:55 pm

Hi,

I've loaded firmware on the Teltonika FM4200 device to support harsh braking/acceleration.

In the the device mapper I've mapped the inputs (Braking,Acceleration) events to some outputs in the device mapper, but none of them are showing.
I've also mapped the Acceleration Input to an Output, but this is only showing a decimal value between 12 - 13 on the terminal.

What is the correct way to use the Braking,Acceleration feature on this device?

Thanks

Do you know which "Property ID" in this new firmware sends the information you need?

This is the info I have :

Harsh braking ( ID : 253, Index : 25 )
Harsh acceleration ( ID : 254, Index : 26 )

Yes, those values are supported by the latest Teltonika Plugins.

Please note that the values will only be sent to the server when there is an actual Harsh Acceleration/Braking/Cornering.

You have the following boolean/digital values, which will turn true on Harsh Acceleration/Braking/Cornering

HarshAcceleration
HarshBraking
HarshCornering

And then the actual value in

HarshAccelerationValue
HarshBrakingValue
HarshCorneringValue

So there you have the variables to map. And as mentioned, they are only sent to the server as they are triggered in the device.

Hi Johan,

How does GGS determine the boolean (HarshAcceleration,HarshBraking,HarshCornering) values? As far as I can see the FM4200 only outputs the HarshAccelerationValue,HarshBrakingValue,HarshCorneringValue values.

I'm unable to get any values from GGS, it never reports these values, not even when an event occur.

To test, I setup my FM4200 device to report the the Teltonika server ( TAVL they call it ), when I use the same device configuration and change only the IP of the server, then I do see harshbraking/acceleration values being reported.

Is it possible that there is more that I need to setup on GGS? Or should I rather send terminal data via email?

Thanks

Sounds like the Teltonika plugin is not getting the values correctly.

I have now added two new variables to "Teltonika FM4200". First HarsIndex, and HarshIndexValue. Please map those values, and check what you get.

Update the Teltonika plugin under SiteAdmin -> Plugins first.

Hi Johan,

Ok, I've updated the Teltonika Plugin but I don't see HarsIndex and HarshIndexValue inputs?

Thanks

Include them for the device type under SiteAdmin -> Devices -> Types

Hi Johan,

It seems that HarsIndex shows the Braking values ( negative acceleration ) and HarshIndexValue shows the Acceleration ( positive acceleration ) values.

Another thing I noticed ; in the Track Points window - what is the difference between km/h and speed?
They track each other, but sometimes the km/h value goes to 0 while the speed is continuing as expected. When the km/h goes to 0, the Alt also goes to 0. I can confirm that the Satellite Count and GPS VALID parameters stays good during this time.

Thanks

Then you have the values you need there. We'll look into the variable names later. Continue testing and let us know if you run into issues.

km/h and alt goes to 0 in a fat point.

Hi Johan,

Very interesting, tested it just now and it seems better than the previous acceleration values which gave the difference in speed as the output.

Do you mind sharing more info on this feature if you have. I can't understand how the device can report acceleration as a absolute G number if the orientation of the device is not factored in. Because you will always have -1G in the Z axis 'cause of gravitation. So if the device is not installed perfectly vertical than this will offset the X and Y axis.

Maybe it self-calibrates in some way.

We are currently working on a "Green Driving" plugin. It will include some reports. If you have feedback on what you thing the reports should include, please email us at support@gpsgate.com

Hpi, the acceleration values "HarshAccelerationValue" and "HarshBrakingValue" are calculated using the difference in vehicle speed measured by the GPS over a one second period. These values do therefore not depend on the device orientation.

Hi Hendrik,

The latest Teltonika Plugin has the following info, it states that the HarshAccelerationValue is measured in G's?

Teltonika Plugin v3.0.0.3191 Released: 2011-12-07
* FM4200 harsh driving. (Check with Teltonika you have an updated firmware version).

HarshAccelerationValue - acceleration in G
HarshBrakingValue - acceleration in G
HarshAcceleration - true when acc > 1G
HarshBraking - true when acc > 1G

before those values were always 0 for FM4200.
