user timezone

Thu Apr 06, 2017 7:04 pm

Hi

A user living abroad wants to change his timezone off the application default. Change should only affect web login for the specific user - trackers are set to GMT/UTC. The user has the _changelocalization priv.

Changing the localization settings under user->settings->localization acts strange .When changing the language from the app default to english some - but not all text - changes after save. The setting has been saved (when checking the settings). When changing and saving the timezone nothing happens.

Missed something?

You can set the Localization for an application in SiteAdmin.

1. Login to SiteAdmin
2. Click on application
3. Change settings under Localization.
4. Save

Individual users can override the applications Localization from the Settings menu in the application.

And finally under SiteAdmin -> Settings -> Localization you can set default values that are used for new created applications.

TIPS!

* There is a useful feature in SiteAdmin to login "impersonated". In the application list in SiteAdmin click on the icon left to the name of the application, then select the username to login as. In this way you can verify that a user gets the proper experience when logged in.

according to support it's an IIS caching issue. Awaiting a fix.

latest from support:
It is not possible to have different time zones for different users under the same application.
So I removed the option to change the timezone in VehicleTracker interface. You can only change the timezone in SiteAdmin and at application level.
This change will be deployed with the next release.
hmm - what to do if you have users from different timezones using the same app?

From Johan:
Individual users can override the applications Localization from the Settings menu in the application.
Will this ever be possible for the timezone?

solved (kind of)

created a new app using old app as template
set desired timezone in new app
added a tag to relevant user in old app
created a copy rule (tagged user in old app to new app)

works (so far)
