A few more questions, I want to make sure I understand KML:
1) As far as the KML, as the NMEA stream is being captured GPSgate server converts NMEA to KML in the background with any manual intervention?
2) Can the KML be automatically stored in a webroot allowing immediate brower access? How is the KML stored?
3) Is any NMEA compatible GSM vehicle tracking unit supported

Yes, the KML feed is real time. Track history is stored as well, and this can be exported in static KML files afterwards.
