GPS input from USB mux

Wed Jan 02, 2008 10:48 pm

Hi- my seatalk gps is connected to a Brookhouse mux, which has a USB output to my computer. My computer and navigation software are able to receive the gps data, but the gps gate is not able to find the data. Does gps gate support a USB input? and if so, how do I configure my computer to read this? Thanks.

There will almost certainly be a COM port associated with the USB input to your PC/laptop from the MUX. This will be the COM port your current navigation software is connected to. Got to Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager/Ports (COM & LPT) for a list of COM ports on your machine. The USB derived one should show up.

Set GpsGate to input from this COM port but not while navigation software is running. You can then set your navigation software to receive output from GpsGate via virtual COM ports it can create.
