GUIDE: Improved Track Filters

Track filters are used to remove faulty noisy GPS data, and to create "idle spots" and trips. But sometimes the filters are not suitable for the application. For example for slow moving vehicles/persons or for city driving.

It is now possible to change Track Filter for a Device Type. Here is how.

1. Make sure all plugins are up to date "green" under SiteAdmin -> Plugins

2. Create a new Device Type under SiteAdmin -> Devices -> Types. Select Track Filter.

"City Drive" for vehicles driving a round in a city with many turns.
"Slow Drive" for very slow moving vehicles, like farming machines.
"Air plane" for fast moving vehicles like air planes.
"Default" Long distance vehicles.

Now you have a new device type with a new track filter.

3. You can assign this Device Type to selected Devices in the applications.

When you switch device type with a new track filter, you need to reprocess tracks for that user for the change to take effect on historical data.

To reprocess old track data use the "Developer Tools".
(Make sure the "Developer Tools" plugin is up to date. Update from labsupdate.gpsgate.com)

If you want to have SiteAdmin and a VehicleTracker application open at the same time, use two types of browsers. Firefox + Chrome.

When selecting the "City Driving" profile, stay points no longer shows up. After changing back to the "Default" profile the stay points worked as normal.

Hi Support,

Is "City Drive" option suitable for the case: gps tracker that used by person or motor vehicle that move 4 - 10 km/hr ?

what happen if the motor vehicle move more than 40 km/hr when using "City Drive" option?

Yes, "City Drive" is suitable for slow moving vehicles. It will also work for faster moving vehicles, but it is optimized for slow moving often turning.

Hi Johan,

Will it be fine if I change existing types like say TC68 profile for City Driving?.

Cars where I am from rarely go over 50km/hr as the speed limit is 45km/rural and 35km/hr urban.

We have been having issues with cars in the town areas.
