FIX: ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager

Fri Sep 23, 2011 8:36 pm

FIX: ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]

SYMPTOM

You are using MySQL and after running the Install Wizard and right after the browser opens to continue installation you get this error:

ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Der Datenquellenname wurde nicht gefunden, und es wurde kein Standardtreiber angegeben

ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

CAUSE

Update:
The IIS application pool is set to 32-bit on a x64 Windows.

Old:
For some reason Windows ODBC fails to use DSN. It seems to turn up on some non-English Windows installations. But the reason why this happens is yet unknown.

SOLUTION

Updated solution:
topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13711

Old suggested solution:
Edit the following two files "IIS\web.config" and "Franson NMEA Service\GpsGate.Service.exe.config". You find them where you installed GpsGate Server which typically is under "C:\GpsGateServer"

Change from:

Code: Select all

  <connectionStrings>
    <clear />
    <add name="ConnStr" connectionString="Dsn=GpsGateServer" />
  </connectionStrings>

To:

Code: Select all

  <connectionStrings>
    <clear />
    <add name="ConnStr" connectionString="Driver={MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver};Server=localhost;Database=GpsGateServer;User=root;Password=password" />
  </connectionStrings>
Where password is the password to your MySQL database.

Note! If you run into this problem, please post some info about which Windows version you are using here, or send it to support@gpsgate.com

If many run into this problem, we need to understand why it happens so we can make a permanent fix!

Johan

If you get "The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application" you have installed 32-bit MySQL ODBC on a x64 Windows. Or both. And you are trying to use the 32-bit OCBD driver and not the 64-bit version.

Solution: Always install 64-bit MySQL ODBC on x64 Windows.

Hi Johan,

Hi, johan

my issue is resolved now by doing this below steps.
1.removed the dsn from the current ODBC connection.
2.run the command odbcad32.exe from c:\windows\syswow64
3.created new dsn.
Then i can able to login in the siteadmin without the ERROR [IM014]

regards
Ahmed.

Updated solution, make sure the IIS application is NOT set to 32-bit on x64 Windows. More info:
