Send command then use the response

Fri Apr 15, 2016 12:55 pm

Hi there,

I would like to be able to write a "service" that could send commands to a device and then gets the response. An example of this is sending a command to a device "GetCurrentSettings", then device responds over GPRS with a dump of it's current settings.

I realise that there is an interface to the commands through SOAP Web Service, but it doesn't say anything about receiving the response from the device.

Is this possible?

Regards,
ilan

Ok, I suspect my question might be partially answered here ... topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16644

Am I correct in assuming that I would need to ask GPSGate to extend the device plugin to parse the response to my command so that it's saved to the db and hence can be accessed via a SOAP call such as "GetGateMessagesByTrackInfoId"

Yes, GpsGate needs to put the reply into an input that you can reach in the device mapper. If this is not done, you can contact support @ gpsgate.com and we will see if the plugin can be extended.
