Support for VS 2008

Tue Oct 28, 2008 3:10 am

I am not having success getting either my app or the samples to compile and run in VB.Net 2008. There are 2 sets of dll's installed, dotNet and dotNet_200. Adding the dll references from either folder doesn't work. Changing compiler options to compile using Framework 2.0 doesn't work either.

Please advise! I need to port my old VB6 app to .NET 2008 ASAP!

Thanks,
Dave

You need to create a project for .NET 2.0 and use the DLLs found under "C:\Program Files\Franson\GpsTools SDK v2.3\dotNet_200" in the SDK.

I cannot get it to work using Framework 2.0. I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit installed on my computer. Could this be an issue? Maybe your product only works in 32 But environments?

Which steps do you take? Which exact error messages do you get?

I loaded the SimpleMap_VB2005 solution into VB.NET 2008 on my Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit computer. Whe I try to run I get this message:

An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is: Could not load file or assembly 'GpsViewNET.200, Version=2.3.1.208, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=9e4b59507d3e1a4f' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.

I confirmed that I can run this successfully on my Vista 32 Bit computer running VB.NET 2008 at work.

Hi,

I downloaded the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) and still got the same error. I then went ahead and installed the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) and got the same error.

I still come back to the issue that your demo code works under VS.Net 2008 on a Vista 32 bit platform but does not work in my Vista 64 bit computer. Downgrading my computer is not an option. I'd really like to get this working so I can continue with my development (porting an old VB6 app to .Net 2008, which uses GPSTools)

Thanks,
Dave

GpsTools contains unmanaged code. It can run on x64 Windows, but only in a 32-bit process.

That was it! I got it to work by going into the compiler options for the project and selecting x86 for the target cpu instead of x64 or any.

Thank you for your assistance!

Last question is I am a registered user and have the license code for the active x version. Do I need to purchase an upgrade for .net or did I just misplace my license code?

You need to purchase a new license for .NET
