Among other projections Californian institutes use the Teale Albers Equal Area projection. Albers is defined:

1st Standard Parallel: 34 00 00
2nd Standard Parallel: 40 30 00
Central Meridian: -120 00 00
Latitude of origin: 00 00 00
False easting (meters): 0
false northing (meters): -4000000
Datum: NAD27
Spheroid: Clarke 1866
Units: meters

I would like the .shp - files convert in UTM, NAD27. Is this possible with CoordTrans?

Hope,KENWILL

I would also like to know if this is possible, so if anyone can reply it would be much appreciated.

(ie. can we convert shapefiles into UTM text files with CoordTrans?)

Thanks.

The problem could have been formulated by me more accurately. The transformation of shp. - files of a projection into another one is well defined functionality of CoordTrans. In this case AEA into UTM. The problem is solved however not with CoordTrans. I cordially thank you for the helpful contribution to the discussion!
