help with location

Wed Mar 17, 2010 7:42 am

Hello All. I have the "location" of a helicopter crash that happened about 10 miles outside Tallil, Iraq on 9-17-2008. What I am trying to do is figure out a coordinate, (Long. and Lat.) for the location number I have which is I believe just a military number. Can anybody help me with that? The "location" of the accident is MGRS 38R PU 69810 69920. If you can help me, please contact me at ktdid@cox.net My Son was killed in this helicopter crash and I would like to get the longitude and latitude. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much Johan. The numbers I got aren't what I expected to see, but they have to be right as I also converted them back to MGRS and they were the same. I was kind of expecting a so many degrees N or so many degrees S or whatever. So how would this actually read, the numbers I got were Lat. 30.449464 and long. 46.76853. Where would the N S E W fall in there?? Thanks so much for your assistance......

Latitude: 30.449464 degree north
Longitude: 46.76853 degree south

If you go to http://maps.google.com and then enter "30.449464, 46.76853" to search for you will see the location on Google Maps.

Johan
