V-SUN 3338 GPS Tracker

Mon Jun 01, 2009 3:51 am

Hi, I'm testing the cheap V-SUN 3338 voice/sms http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.21686 for around € 85,- , worldwide sold as OEM-product http://www.trackjack.nl

I've setup a GpsGate server -works with my PDA- but not yet with this Tracker.
(How) Will it connect to GpsGate.com ?

I have no idea where to find the GpsGate server incoming-messages log, so I've copied this from the manual:

When I SMS #806#user password## , it uploads output like:

#IMEI # user name #service password #condition
# data quantity #the base station’s information#65284;GPRMC…….. # the base station’s
information#65284;GPRMC……. ##

eg:
#123456789000001#V3338#0000#SMS#3
#25ee0dff$GPRMC,083945.180,A,2233.4249,N,11406.0046,E,0.00,315.00,251207,,,A*6E
#25ee0dff$GPRMC,083950.180,A,2233.4249,N,11406.0046,E,0.00,315.00,251207,,,A*6E

Hopefully someone has more insight then I.

RE: V-SUN 3338 GPS Tracker

Found the device: it is the same as a TK-100.

So as per instruction http://www.franson.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6761 I've changed the port to 6999.
GPS information comes in, but the location does not show up in vehicle tracker

What am I missing?

The GpsGate server log states:

It is not the same as "that" TK100 device. Try SmartPipe. More info:

Thanks for making that clear. When I saw some actual location information being logged with these settings [:D] , I hoped "this" TK100 was supported.
Too bad that according to the log, Smartpipe doesn't support the V-SUN 3338 tracker yet:

Looking at the data from your V-SUN I would say it is supported by SmartPipe. Please try the following things.

1. Make sure you have added a device with a correct IMEI, that is in your case "353686009045340".

2. Set the log level to "Debug" to get all data sent from your tracker logged. Change from "Info" to "Debug" in NLog.config which you find in the "Franson NMEA Service" folder. Restart "NMEA Service" in SiteAdmin for the change to take effect.

3. Maybe the IMEI number is invalid. IN this case you can enable "Unsafe" SmartPipe. Use this SQL query:
UPDATE settings SET value_data = '1' WHERE namespace = 'SmartPipe' AND value_name = 'Unsafe';

The IMEI is correct, but to be 100% safe, I deleted the device and re-entered.
Tried it also with both SmartPipe NMEA standard & Liberal.

I changed the 'Info' to 'Debug' and this is the outcome:

Yes, but maybe the IMEI number doesn't follow the standards. Try the Unsafe option.

Phewww, I never used the command-line of MySQL before!!
But with a basic command guide, I got it done according to your instruction.

And Johan, you're the best! It works! [:D] [:D] Thanks for that!!

P.S. I'll probably be back later because I can only get it to work with Vehicle -, and not Buddy Tracker.

I've upgraded to Server beta 2 now;

To make this device work with VehicleTracker, I've changed the IMEI reception to 'unsafe'. Should this now also work with BuddyTracker? It doesn't yet.

Are additional steps necessary?

Yes, it should work with BuddyTracker. Which kind of error do you get?

No errors, just screens filled with variables / field-names.

However, seems to function fine after a restart of the server & (more) incoming tracker-updates.
