X1 Power Concern

Sun Aug 09, 2009 2:00 am

I'm installing a new client with X1WP and am currently setting up the device.

My main concern is car battery usage when the car is turned off. Is this a valid concern, and what can I do about it? Below is what I tried through $st+pmgr.

I am worried about the device continuously being On and not going to a power save mode.
I am using $st+pmgr=0000,1,12.00,1,0,180,180,1

but I cannot get it to power down.

I am doing this connected to a battery for testing purposes.

for how long do you plan "park" the cars ?

we have serval setups with PRO Units ... 2 weeks parking isnt a problem at all ... even if the unit does handshake.

I am faced with a similar problem, although I am using the X8 unit. The power management function is not clear to me yet. Has the tracking command priority over the power management or vice versa?

What worries me is not the X8 consumption. Rather, I am worried of the RFID-reader consumption (120mA if I recall correctly), which in combination with the main unit current can cause car battery to fail!

Is there any experience on this setup?

Does Power Management prevail over card reader or does the card reader draw current continuously?
