NMEA Service help.... Sierra Wireless MP 875

Fri Aug 31, 2007 1:18 am

Using the latest version of GPSGate Server and trying to get data from a "blackbox" modem but for some reason, looking at my logfile below, it doesnt look like the NMEA service is binding to any IP addresses. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Which "blackbox" are you using? Do you have a web link with some descriptions? Do you have any other data on the device that can be useful? Which port does it connect to? Does it use UDP or TCP? Do you have any information on which protocol is being used?

The NMEA data Sierra Wireless MP 875 sends does not contains any authentication information (no information that says which device is sending the data). GpsGate Server can handle this by something we call "NMEA Pipes"

NMEA More info about NMEA Pipes here:
http://franson.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5657

TAIP The TAIP protocol includes Vehicle ID, which means it should be a simpler way of setting up the system. We have now implemented support for TAIP in GpsGate Server, it will be part of the next service release of GpsGate Server. More info here:
