problem with buddytrack

Thu Aug 02, 2007 8:17 pm

Hello,

I have a problem with the maps in the buddytrackermode.
The server gives me an error that i have a key for another application running.this was also for the verhicle Tracking but thats now ok for ik can see.

I understand making keys for google.com/maps.
i do get http://sitename/GpsGateServer/ is that ok or must i put more info over the directory for vehicletracking?

For vehicle tracker had i making a key with http://sitename.com/GpsGateServer/ en put the file in vehicletracker.aspx

For the buddytracking: how give i the good url and directorie for a key thats working in google.com/maps.
example: http://sitename.com/GpsGateServer/ is that ok or is this wrong.

And in witch directory and witch file must i fill in the key.

Is there anybody who can help me tot finish my problem so that i can try to get the GPSdata into google earth or GpsGate.

Thanks for reading my problem and hope for a solution.

best regards Jeroen

Hi,

First, note that each Google key is only valid for a specific url. Thus you need to obtain a separate key for each application you intend to use (i.e. one for BuddyTracker and one for VehicleTracker)

The files where the keys are to be inserted are:

BuddyTracker:
..YourInstallDir/GpsGateServer/BuddyTracker/GpsGateComMaster.Master

VehicleTracker:
..YourInstallDir/GpsGateServer/VehicleTracker/VehicleTracker.aspx

At the top of each file above you should see a couple of lines looking something like this:
---snip------------------------
<!-- REPLACE THE GOOGLE MAP KEY BELOW WITH YOUR KEY AND REMOVE THE COMMENTS -->
<!--<script src="http://maps.google.com/maps?file=api&v=2&key=ABQIAAAAQoA7cjYV3Erx1od1HNJfWRQQsJYlTDIJkBeDgXKSRUG4otIBpxT6Vrhw0rsWt7zy9WMWLAcIq_PZBg" type="text/javascript"></script>-->
<!-- END GOOGLE MAP KEY SECTION-->
------------------------------

Simply paste the key you received from Google between the separator comments.

!Note: The Google keys are _case-sensitive_, that means you need to paste the key/url _exactly_ as you got it from Google.

We intend to simplify the handling of Google keys in future releases, so that you shouldn't need to do this manually.

HTH

Thanks Fredrik for helping me.

But I have 1 question about making the key.

Witch url must i put on apis voor the buddy and for verhicle.
The directory GpsGateServer is located: http://hostname.com/GpsGateServer/
Is that de line voor the key for both of it, or is it http://hostname.com/GpsGateServer/BuddyTracker or something else.

Thanks for helping me.

best regards Jeroen

When you request keys from Google you should use the same urls that your apps will use, as each key is only valid for a specific directory on your server (see http://www.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html).

In your case I assume that would be:
- BuddyTracker key => http://hostname.com/GpsGateServer/BuddyTracker
- VehicleTracker key => http://hostname.com/GpsGateServer/VehicleTracker
