New server install V 1.1

Fri Jul 20, 2007 1:15 am

I have a windows 2003 server and have other web site installed.

I do not want to install GpsGateServer as a sub of Default.
I would like to assign it it's own domain and directory in IIS6

When I install it using the installer, it want both the location and a Sub.
If I blank out the sub, it errors.

Suggestions?

You can do it manually. If you choosed GpsGateServer (default dir name) during the installation:
1. Copy the GpsGateServer directory where everything is installed to where ever you want.
2. Point the root of the site to the directory.

3. Following directories have to be set as application directories in IIS Manager.
/BuddyTracker
/VehicleTracker
/SiteAdmin
/WebServices/GpsGateService
/WebServices/MapService

The new version has an install.exe
What directories would you like me to copy?
There are none.

Run the installation from start to end then you copy the directory that has been created in the IIS root. The default name of that directory is "GpsGateServer"

So exactly how did you do? Did you move the directory "GpsGateServer" to another location or did you just change the IIS paths?
This is not standard procedure so I forgot that moving the whole directory requires that you manual uninstall the Franson NMEA Service and Franson.SysMonitorsService found in "Franson NMEA Service" directory. Using installUtil.exe in same directory.

Great...

You need a clean, non-used web server to install this as it stands right now....hmmmm

How about a manual installer or instructions on how to for 1.1?
Something that allows users like me to install this right the first time?
