I have not heard about that map. Do you have a link?

You find a list of supported maps here: topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10087
Almost any web-based map can be made to work with GpsGate Server.

Hello,

Let me say something about the mentioned solution. Indeed they providing truck map road planning service based on tomtom quality maps where truck specification can be set.

The same provider also has Android professional navigation software with open API for integration of two-way message communication & dispatch. If both (mapping planning service and API of the android application (called PTV Navigator) can be integrated to GpsGate would be wonderful. Why ?
It¡¦s because the users can creating routes, specifically for trucks and send the whole route to the navigation (not only the final destination as is now in Garmin) -> they can send route with multiple waypoints and be sure that the driver will follow the exact same route planned from the operator.

Something extremely important is that the API contain also ¡§ETA¡¨ for integration ¡V this can give the ability of the operators to knows what remaining time has the truck to the job (here is the place to say that if the final user pay around 15 euro per year for TomTom live traffic implemented into PTV Navigator (android navigation) -> ETA is based on the traffic jam.)

We are chasing something similar from quite while ļ Hope in future GpsGate to support something in this direction.

Regards,
John

Hi,

Our Dispatch plugin is designed to support these sorts of use cases and is in ongoing development with new features being added all the time. To solve a use case such as yours J.Kesoe, you can use the Mobile plugin and Dispatch plugin together.

Our Mobile view allows any device with a web browser to log into your GpsGate Server installation with their own credentials and see their active jobs, ordered in the way that the dispatcher wants them to appear.

http://gpsgate.com/blogComment/mobile_dispatch

They can view job details, and tap a button to open any supported modern navigation software on their Android device to be routed to the destination. This will allow the drivers to use the full features (ETA, traffic updates etc) of their favourite navigation software or the fleet administrator's pre-installed choice if the devices are centrally administered.

The Dispatch plugin allows you to create routes with many stops, automatically optimise the path to reduce fuel and travel costs and dispatch them to the workers that are logged into the Mobile view.

You can also automate many features of Dispatch with scripting such as automatically setting jobs as complete when the drivers reach the location, creating jobs based on event rules or creating your own menu options for quick generic job types.

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I do appreciate your efforts to bring new futures but here the main disadvantage of GpsGate is that the maps used for route optimization are not truck specified (it means that they calculate the route without considering truck weight, leigh, high) and as far as i know still does not have such a option (truck route calc.).

This planning is useless for the truck companies. Here, PTV, TomTom etc.. having maps with included truck specifications.

You can see at:

http://www.routenet.nl/route.aspx?task= ... true%7E%7E

They have implemented PTV truck planning algorithm based on TomTom maps into their own web platform and as you can see there is an option to specify & calculate the route for a truck or car and giving you, the estimate route taxes as well.

John

Hi J.Kesoe,

Thanks for the additional feedback clarifying the situation. This is indeed something that the plugin currently lacks. We are going to continue work on the Dispatch plugin so information like this is great for us to have as we develop new updates.

Andrew
