RE: FEATURE: Mobile (major update).

Mon Aug 18, 2014 5:42 am

I have the following feedback to give in relation to all recent updates on Mobile application:
1. Zoom option available earlier is no longer available.
2. Low Bandwidth warning appears even with broad band wifi connection with high bandwidth.
3. It takes long to load the application - in Samsung Tablets.
4. Overall the update has done no good to users. it only increases frustration.

Just for the record I'm using the application on a Samsung Galaxy S4 and don't have any of the problems indicated by ezeetraker. The browser is the default browser for the phone (Safari I think).
- Zoom by "pinching" works fine.
- I've never seen a "low bandwidth" warning and in South Africa we have slow speeds (just tested now at 1.5 Mbps)
- Application loads in seconds.
Note though that we are using our own South African server.
Hope this is useful for troubleshooting.

@ezeetracker
1) ? The zoom-all button is located at the bottom of the right sidebar. The google zoom-bar/buttons was removed to try to save screen estate (especially in landscape mode). Zoom by pinching-
2) The low-bandwidth warning will be tuned a bit to avoid false warnings (it was added to try to help with the slow startup problems..)
3) Startup time will be improved in upcoming releases.

4) Please note that this is still a Beta plugin. It's being improved as we speak. Please continue to give feedback and report any problems in as much detail as possible. Thank you!

@guytracker
Ok. yes, we're looking into improving on the native browser. Should be fixable.
Otherwise Chrome is recommended on basically all platform it's available on (incl desktop).

@Machtl. The website communicates to the server with generated javascript that tries to connect clients to the endpoint that your IIS served the page from.

If you serve the page from an IIS machine with a binding of say yoururl:80 then port redirect with an intermediary in your network to say, 8081 this will cause problems.
If you create a binding in IIS to the port you want to be using (again, say 8081) and allow the traffic through your network on this port, things will work just fine.

Hi, thx. Short question, i tried to install the iis machine after my temporary gpsgateserver test Installation and tried to Point the web data to the iis machine. but many Errors came um. so question, when the iis Service is installed before installing the gpsgateserver via the Setup wizard, will the wizard automatically install the data right so the iis can be used? or is there a doc for that?

Yes, GpsGate Server installer will detect existence of IIS and use that. (Except, if you install on a non-server version of Windows (XP..) it will automatically install IISExpress instead, to get you started. A professional setup should use Windows Server and "real" IIS of course).

thanks, i figured it out how to change the port also with the IISExpress version. maybe this would be useful for other users too, now it works perfectly! :-)

1.) locate your gpsgateserver iis files directory, like C:\GpsGateServer\IIS

2.) open the iisexpress config file iisexpress_applicationhost.config with a texteditor

3.) change the default portnumber 80 to something else, like 8081. to do this,
change the lines <binding protocol="http" bindingInformation="*:80:" />
into <binding protocol="http" bindingInformation="*:8081:" />

4.) save the config file and restart iisexpress or restart windows, done.

Now its possible to access the mobile-plugin on your server via mobile-device on a different portnumber. Like http://yourserver:8081/GpsGateServer

:-)

Hi

Updated, and liked, was very good!

but the language was for the English, and I can not translate, and my clients use are complaining because they do not understand English

We would have two options:

The first option would be able to return to the previous version until you have the translation available.

the second option would disponibliliar the translator immediately because the laws of our country, everything has to be in our language

Or, how do I translate?

Hi CRVaz,

We don't commonly answer forum questions at the weekend so it's unlikely you will receive a reply from GpsGate developers before the working week if you post then.

Translation is something that we are actively developing now and it should be in a release very soon.

We don't support rolling back to previous versions once you have installed beta software but we do (and are right now on the Mobile plugin) work to address all the common issues that people find with our new releases.

Andrew

We have a new Mobile plugin build up on the beta plugin repository.

This build includes:

More responsive page loading with progress bar.
Translation implemented.
Accumulator information in vehicle list.
Privilege to show/hide vehicle list in mobile plugin under Mobile -> _VehicleList

Fix: Failure to load on older Android stock browsers.
Fix: iPad "load map" button display bug.
Fix: Non-"map view" event rules displaying in mobile map.
Change: Low bandwidth mode renamed and less strict.
Change: Various performance tweaks.

As always, if any issues arise with loading the page please try refreshing it in the device browser.

Andrew
