FEATURE: Route Geofence

FEATURE: Route Geofence

In addition to circle and polygon geofences, it is now possible to create Route Geofences.

The Route Geofence allows for creation of a virtual perimeter between two points. It can be used in order to ensure that a vehicle doesn’t leave a predetermined route, and if it does, a alarm can be set to inform the interested party.

Fantastic feature. Is it possible to configure a threshold (similar to POI expressions)for alarms?

Hello,

Possible to transfer a vehicle's draw track trip become the route geo-fence. The trip distance may be 100km.

m1Gps: Please read under "Two ways of creating Route Geofences" and then scroll down to "Creating Route Geofences from Tracks and Trips." for how to create a "Route Geofence" from a track.

Another really exciting possibility is to use the route geofence (outside rule) to set up speeding alarms for surface (non-freeway) routes. Is there a performance concern if an event rule AND multiple geofence expressions?

Hello Johan,

Great feature that I have waiting for long time.

Thanks for adding this features.

If this route geofence planner or scheduler in separate panel from event rule and create and easy interface for easy assign vehicles, route and schedule is better. Because if an application have hundreds of vehicles they need to have multi-route planning and schedule.

Thanks
Best regards

Joining all the above...
Another great addon can be to use the routes from Google/Bing/other maps routing engine...

limyo: Yes, this is not really about route planning.

Anyone having success with the new Route geofence? When I try to save a new route geofence, I get an error message saying: "Polygon is self-intersecting." What does that mean?

You can get the "Polygon is self-intersecting." error when you draw a polygon geofence, but not a Route Geofence.

Please double check you really selected Route Geofence.

Double checked. Polygon geofences work correctly. Route geofences reported the "self-intersecting" error message in all VT applications.

Please send us the error log files for the time period of the problem. They are located under C:\GpsGateServer\ErrorLog and should for today be named:

IIS 2014-06-14.log and NMEA 2014-06-14.log

Johan
