Dispatch plugin and mobile phone

Thu Mar 27, 2014 11:25 pm

Hi,

I wonder, how to send jobs to mobiles with new v4.x dispatch plugin? I was able to do it with the old v3.x version.

Krzysztof

Can you describe which method you used to send jobs in v3.x ?

Did you create a Template Command and send over SMS? Or...?

Hi Johan,

We send jobs as ordinary sms message. No template command.
Sorry, my mistake. Before there was option to sent job to particular mobile. Now it is automatic when user is chosen.

By the way. Would be good to add possibility to create list of all or selected jobs which can be send to driver as a batch. Even more, add option to sort some how job's addresses to create optimal route for driver and than maybe show some route statistics like: total distance, total time, sub-times, etc.

Kind regards,
Krzysztof

Hi,
As you say the sending of job is now automated, however the way the job is sent is the same.
The only way of sending job as SMS (both in old version and in the current one) is by using template commands according to this guide:
topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=14640

It should still work if you adding a user with a cell phone as worker to the job.
Do you mean that it does not?

And thank you for the feedback regarding batch and routing.
Can you please briefly describe how you typically are using (or want to use) the dispatch plugin?

Hello,

Maybe is a good idea to turn more attention to dispatch and two-way communication support. I am pretty sure that a lot of users wants to have more developments in this field. Currently only Garmin and Cell phone for dispatch/chat are supported.

Hi,

Thank you for answer.
In fact. We did that configuration according to this guide:
topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=14640
Sorry for some misunderstanding.

I think would be nice to add possibility to create lists of jobs by selection (tick) and than send them to selected user as a batch.

Equally good idea is to create route planer based on jobs addresses something like topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16029&SearchTerms=directions

This could be useful for our clients.

@J.Kesoe:
Can you please describe what you mean by two-way communication? How would such a dispatch scenario look like in your point of view?

@kriskri:
So you have a couple of jobs added and at the start of the day or similar you want to dispatch out the jobs to the workers in one batch per worker? Have I understand you correctly?
The routing functionality is indeed interesting.

Hi,

Is there any way to print the job lists, or have a report for completed jobs, planned jobs ect?

Is there an instruction guide on the dispatch plugin or is it just the blog page?

Thanks

Here is a blog about the dispatch plugin:
http://gpsgate.com/blogComment/dispatch ... redesigned

Reporting:
You have dispatch related report called DI000X.

Regarding route optimization, that is actually a quite complex thing.
We have not yet looked in to the different approaches to add that feature.
