WebTech 5000 Serial Configuration

Thu Mar 21, 2013 6:31 pm

Hi Guys,

I an looking to reconfigure some of these devices and I can't work out how to reconfigure them. I've tried in hyperterminal. I have seen suggestions stating that 56k speed would do, but nothing happens and none of my inputs are registered.

What settings should I be using and what should I expect to see when I connect?

Webtech support is not to expectation. I have contacted them many times but in vain. However, I was able to configure their device using windows terminal. Use baud 9600,8,n. There is one trick though. Remove the backup battery first if found. Also, start windows terminal first then power the deice on. You should be able to see certain parameters appearing. Please note that you need the webtech configuration cable and not the power cable(which is also an RS232).
Hope this helps.

Wow! I was aiming much too high!

I'll give 9600 a go tomorrow. Not sure what cable I have. It has both an RS232 and 7 extra wires for power and telemetry and stuff like that.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Anyone know of a command that will display the serial number of a DECT100-400. Our asset management/bean counters will get very excited if we can
If not, would this be a worthwhile suggestion to Alcatel to implement?
