difference between applications and template

what is the difference between creating a template and applications?
used for each?

You create applications from templates.
You probably have these standard templates: Basic One, User Types, Empty (Advanced). When you create a new application, you choose a template from one on them. Then you have to configure rights, choose geocoder, language and more.
Thats when templates comes in handy. You just create one template (for example with name MyTemplate), configure it and then you can create a new application from that template (choose MyTemplate from list instead of Basic One or Empty).
I ran some tests and found out that templates saves: Event Rules, Tags, Views, Features, Icons (but not Device Mappers and Workspaces).
It saves you time, because you configure template once and then create applications from that.


If something is impossible, give it to someone who doesn't know that, and he will do it.
