FIX: Tracks should consider time zone

FIX: Tracks should consider time zone

Servers installed before Feb 2. 2012 will start a new track at midnight Windows server time. It will also not consider day light saving.

Servers installed after Feb 2. 2012 will use the Time Zone set for each application to start a new track.

Please follow those steps to enable Time Zone for track restart.

1. Make sure all plugins are up to date, all "green" under SiteAdmin -> Plugins.

2. Execute this SQL query:
UPDATE settings SET value_data = '1' WHERE value_name = 'UseTimeZoneTrackOffset';

3. Restart NMEA Service under SiteAdmin -> Services

This is automatically done since about 6 months back. Just update Patch.3840 to the latest version and you will have this feature enabled.

Please start with to check that you have the right time zone set for the application.

1. Login to SiteAdmin
2. (Go to Application)
3. Click on the application to edit.
4. Set time zone under Localization.
5. Save.

If you did not have the right time zone before, it will take up to 48 hours to get this right again.

And then set correct default time zone for the server.

1. Login to SiteAdmin
2. Go to Settings (top menu)
3. Go to Localization (left menu)
4. Set time zone.
5. Save.

Now any new application you create will use the default time zone, if you not change that specifically when editing/creating the application.

Thanks for the reply Johan. This was the first thing I checked and all is set as it should be so it must be something else. It does it on multiple users, whenever the vehicle is tracking past midnight. What to check next??

If you have a device and web login on the same user, it could be that the user has logged in and changed his own time zone.

Time zone is overridden on user level, if the user has changed it from the Settings menu.

* There is a useful feature in SiteAdmin to login "impersonated". In the application list in SiteAdmin click on the icon left to the name of the application, then select the username to login as. In this way you can verify that a user gets the proper experience when logged in.
