RE: FM4200 Harsh Braking/Acceleration

Yes, that is correct. I was trying to explain how the g:s are calculated. They are produced from GPS data (the speed), and not the accelerometer.

As I understand the accelerometer in FM4200 is only used to detect vehicle movement, and not for actual g-force measurement.

Hi Hendrik,

I'm still in the dark as to how the translation from speed to G's are made. If G's, this will need a accelerometer. If only the delta in speed measurements are used, than it's not G's.

The Harshbraking/Accel events are true when > 1G. How is this 1G related to speed then?

G is acceleration. Change of speed over time is acceleration == G.

A change of 9.81 m/s in speed during one second == 1G

If you break a car from 9.81 m/s to 0 during 1 second, the driver is exposed to 1G.

If you crash into a stone wall, and accelerate from 30m/s to 0 m/s during 0.1 seconds, you are exposed to about 30G (and you will likely get a headache...)

Johan

@HPI

Would you mind sharing your event rule setup to show your configuration for the Harsh braking/acceleration.

I have the firmware for this from Teltonika

Will certainly be appreciated.........

Hi Bolt,

I'm currently testing this device to see what is the best configuration to use. I will gladly share this info when I'm happy with the results.

The configuration I had before on the FM4200 device send data to the server every second, this worked very well, but obviously the bandwidth used was unacceptable. I only want to data to be send every 60 seconds to the server, so I have to setup the FM4200 in some way that Harsh conditions can still be detected.

On the server side I've mapped the HarshAcceleration / HarshBraking to variables and when they are true, it triggers a Harsh driving event.

Any more info on this?? We are having issues with setting up our FM4200's to do the eco driving report and dont know if it is the GpsGate end or Unit end with the issues. Have updated firmware and mapped everything at both ends but still getting 0 values.

Hi can you share with me your firmware for fm4200 with braking/acceleration please?

Hi,

I've loaded firmware on the Teltonika FM4200 device to support harsh braking/acceleration.

In the the device mapper I've mapped the inputs (Braking,Acceleration) events to some outputs in the device mapper, but none of them are showing.
I've also mapped the Acceleration Input to an Output, but this is only showing a decimal value between 12 - 13 on the terminal.

What is the correct way to use the Braking,Acceleration feature on this device?

Thanks
