ok, we need to implement a much more robust mechanism to re-send messages.

I do agree with "catpl" that not all messages sent are received and vice-versa.

Hi All,

I have used many FMS' before and i must say, have found GPSGate by far the best system available in the market. The development is fast and every one helps.

My query: Can we use any of the Garmin device as a Tracker itself? Meaning able to send back data to GPSGateServer (or no use for a seperate unit e.g. Teltonika etc,).

Regards,
Jageerdar

Jageerdar. I am not sure but Garmin PND does not have a way to send the location information back to the server. It doesn't use any form of communication by itself to send the information back. With the Garmin PND it uses a GPS tracker to communicate with the server but this means you will have to buy a GPS tracker regardless.

I don't think Garmin has an extension or add on to allow for this. If you look at all Garmin PND i doubt you will find any with an option for using of a SIM card to send information from the Garmin PND. I think Garmin are not interested in this.

Hi Support,

I understand there are more features now such as the multi-chat and chat-popup.

But is the messaging stable now? As highlighted previously, many messages sent from GGS are lost in the air. If this weakness is solved, then all features including multi-chat will be welcome.

Thanks,
Catpl

The Garmin FMI plugin is still not 100% reliable.

We are working on those issues, and will release updates in the near term.

You have reliable chat for cell phone and TrackerOne integrations now.

Hope you all are aware of this:
https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?t=19486

Affected units are likely 12xx, 13xx, 14xx, 2xxx, 3xxx

Our company and STYLETRONIC are testing some betas from Garmin to get rid of this. I am assuming that the problem is that messages or stop point sent to the PND are not displayed.

If this info is relevant at least you should stop seeking for ghosts, otherwise ignore my message.

regards

mti: I had suspected that it could be due to model. So i have tested nuvi 205/w and the same result. Messages from GG3 goes into the air and cannot reach nuvi and vice versa.

The condition improves if you don't type too many messages too quickly. Maybe 1 or 2 messages per minute. All i can say the Garmin FMI with GGS is still largely unstable.

I am patiently waiting for Johan to solve the issues.

Hi Support,

Is this project still ongoing?

I have updated the plugins recently. Now no chat is possible, not even delay or multiple chat. Now it will show "Object is not set to an instance of an object" and sometimes it will show "client is disconnected from server".

The Teltonika + Garmin and IntelliTrac + Garmin integrations are still unstable.

We are working on the outstanding issues right now. But a final stable release is still some weeks away. A fast fix for the "Object is not set..." will come earlier.

Johan

Hi,

We have made updates to our Garmin driver that should solve some of the issues reported here, and we are working on fixing them all.

So now we are looking for beta testers! If you want to test the updates (again, BETA!), send an email to support@gpsgate.com (refer to this topic). Please specify which devices you got.

Regards,
Mattias
