Marine charting for use on a handheld

Fri Feb 15, 2008 10:43 pm

Does anyone know of any Marine charts (US and or Canada waters) that I can put on my I-Paq hand held to use while kayaking? I am using a Garmin GPS 10 and a HP IPaq 2795 bioth in seperate waterproof bags. It works really well but I can't find any way to download charts to the handheld. Mostly I kayak in the waters of Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands of western Washington State (USA).

A few suggestions. Navio is an application that intalls on your iPAQ & PC. It allows you to turn images into indexed charts in order to plot your GPS position. Memory Map & Fugawi offer Windows chartplotter applications that include a module to install version onto your iPAQ. They accept a wide range of marine & land charts. Generally you have to buy these, but some are available on-line FOC.
