Furuno NavNet2 Can't resolve address (Again)

Sun Apr 29, 2007 5:20 am

Furuno NavNet2 with MaxSea Version 12.5.
I have version 2.5 GPSGate with standard license.
Using Windows XP Pro
I know the port address of my network card (Assigned fixed address).
I am unable to resolve address for "TCP/IP Client" function.

Has anyone ever been able to get this to work?

Perhaps I am hung up on the "name or IP address of the Server to witch the GPS is connected". I have looked in vain for the address in the Furuno installation manual. There are some names like PLOTTER or NavNet1, NavNet2, etc. I have tried them all. While they specify what address to give the network card at the PC, they are silent on IP addresses for the plotter or GPS.

I have spent hours trying different combinations of addresses and network names to get it to resolve the address and pass gps data.

I'm not usually helpless with simple networks. But, I'm at my wit's end here. Any help would be much appreciated.

As I said in a previous reply, Furuno use proprietary drivers in NavNet2. It will not work with standard TCP/IP.
