Has any one opened GPSGate in either 32 or 64 bit Windows 7? Haven't been able to.

Yes works fine on both. For 64 bit version you have to follow instructions as for Vista. Trying opening as Administrator and have UAC turned off (Control Panel/User Accounts/Change User Account Control Settings then move slider to Never Notify).

I'v got a Garmin eTrex Legend HCx, which connects to my Windows 7 /64-bit) system via USB.

I'v tried fiddeling with all the settings that seem appropriate in BSGPS, but it only gives me 'No GPS Device found' when I search for it.

I'v also tried running Franson's GpsGate, to no avail.
I'v tried to deselect auto, set retries to 10 and selected COM4@4800, which I know work (see below).

VisualGPSXP (similar to BSGPS, but far from as nice UI) finds my GPSr automatically on COM4@4800, when GpsGate is running. It also gives a nice NMEA readout.

I'v tried a few other progs that are also not able to connect to my device, among others:

I sincerely hope someone got solutions or explanations for me, as this is becoming rather frustrating. I'm also not interested in paying for neither GpsGate nor BSGPS before I see them actually work..

We are also having problems with GPSGate on Windows 7 64 bit.

GPSGate correctly receives data from a BlueTooth connected receiver.
You can select a COM output and the message states OK. There are, however, no GPS data on the output.

Selecting any Virtual COM results in an error message.

The sys module was copied over to the system32 directory and also to WOW64

Hi Johan,

My apologies.
I accidentally stored the .sys driver in the Windows\system32 and Windows\sysWOW64 directories rather than in the subdirectories; that is, Windows\system32\drivers and Windows\sysWOW64\drivers. ( I understand that it probably only needs to be in the subdirectory of WOW64).
I changed the locations of the .sys driver and GPSGate now works properly with Windows 7 64 bit.

Thank you again for your assistance.

Best regards,
