Error opening stream

Thu Jan 22, 2009 8:49 pm

Hi Jonas,

I try to connect from a PC (Vista SP1) to an BT module LMX9838 from National Semiconductor. The PC is the master an discovers the BT module and connects to it. Then I connect to the serial service of the module. This is always possible.
But when i try to open the stream, it sometimes works, sometimes not.
Then the error message is: 10060: BlueToolsException: Failed to connect remote Bluetooth service.

Please, can you help me with any idea?

Thanks in advance and best regards.

P.S.: I'm using Bluetools together with the Microsoft stack.

The connection doesn't actually do anything, it just sets up the parameters required for an actual connection.
When you open the Stream you make the actual connect to the device.

If the device says Failed to connect remote bluetooth service it means that the device is out of range, busy or turned off.
This can have many reasons, the stack on the device might've been locked up (bluetooth stacks are volatile and can easily "hang") or the device might already be connected to some other device. Or if your own application "talked" to the device and abruptly crashed it might still think that your device is just out of range and trying to contact it again.

There's not much you can do rather than restart the remote device.
