Personalized service

I wonder if it is possible to know the modell of a mobile that I detect. I can get the bluetooth mac address and the name of the device, but I need to know the modell for instance Nokia 6630 or if it is a P900.

Thank you so much

I don't know how to get modell information.

Maybe someone else in this forum has some ideas?

This is not possible AFAIK. In the Obex protocol there is something called a Capability object that might contain this information, but it has not been tested if this object is even available on cell phones as the Obex protocol is originally provided for infrared services.

The Obex components provided with BlueTools do not offer any way of retrieving this object. If you want to attempt to retrieve you must contruct your own Obex client implementation. The Obex protocol is available here: http://www.irda.org/

I'm not sure but you may be able to get the Model using a +CGMM
AT Command. Check this site (Section 5 - General commands)...

I'm currently trying to get my Razr to respond to AT commands via BT but I'm not having any luck...

Maybe you'll have better luck!

one method might be to analyze the HW adress that you get. Addresses are different per vendor and model - although there is no clear system so you might get mismatches. If you just want to differentiate between a couple of devices it might work though.

Hope you don´t mind if I point you to this forums discussion:
