OnRead event for future versions?

Thu Mar 16, 2006 4:25 am

Hello,

I was using the SerialTools for my previous BlueTooth access, and I am now switching to BlueTools. I am wondering if there are any plans to include similar functionality as the Port.OnRead event in the SerialTools? This was enormously successful and took a lot of the timing issues I am currently having in using the BlueTools library.

Regards,
Chris

Yes, we are considering some kind of BlueTools + SerialTools integration. But there is no release date yet.

If you describe your timing issues, we might be able to help you to solve these.

Johan,

Thanks for the insight into where you folks are headed. I think I figured out my timing issue. The bluetooth device (transmitting) that I am working with is sending data once a second. That data is a byte[375], of which I am looking for a section that is byte[75]. I slept the thread for 900ms and the timing is better, but my concern is that the buffer could still contain old data. Do you have any suggestions on how to ensure the buffer is purged before grabbing a new read?

Regards,
Chris

Could you not just clear the byte array before reading the new data with Array.Clear(..)?

Johan,

Thank you so much! Sometimes, when your heads down, you can't see the obvious.

Best Regards,
Chris
