(unnamed bluetools entity)

Thu Dec 01, 2005 7:06 pm

Hi Guys

On a machine running Microsoft Stack (fresh XP SP2 install). I run the following code to discover devices and add to a listbox.

Code: Select all

RemoteDevice device = RemoteDevice)((DiscoveryEventArgs)eventArgs).Discovery;
deviceList.Items.Add(device);
(taken from the find & connect sample)

However instead of returning device names I get (unnamed bluetools entity).

Any thoughts?

Thanks
John

The Microsoft Stack tends to fetch the names the second time it makes a device discovery. Running device discovery twice will give you more names. We have also made some improvements which will give more returned names the first device discovery in the next release (Beta9).

If you link/bond to devices, you will always get the names. Bonding for the MS stack is also part of Beta9

Note that the List control wont update the names if you don't remove and then add an object again.

Thanks Johan, I didn't realise the MS stack had a problem with this, although now it would explain problems I had in the past using the MS stack directly. :)
