Want to only Connect to BlueTooth Device

Fri Jul 17, 2009 7:59 pm

We're writing a Disto device reader.

I have a Disto Bluetooth item created in My Bluetooth Places

When double clicked it looks like this

Our app opens COM4 and starts reading data. This all works great manually without using the BlueToothSDK.

We would like to automate the process using your SDK. Your FindAndConnect app works great but it opens a stream. When the stream is closed the connection is lost.

Question 1: I would like it to only Discover and Connect so that I can automate the connection process (Figure B). Is that possible?

Question 2: When FindAndConnect discovers my disto it says it's on COM1 (Figure C). To connect in my App I must open COM4 serial port. Can you explain why COM1 is displayed when COM4 is the real port?

Thank you for your help. It looks very promising.

You cannot connect without getting a Stream.

As for the COM-port, I have no idea.

Just so I'm clear...when you dblclk the connection from My Bluetooth Places, it doesn't create a stream, but it does connect. That cannot be done using your SDK? I don't need a stream, only need the device connected as an active com port.

Thanks.
