GPSGATE preview??

Wed Mar 21, 2007 11:05 pm

I have a device running a custom application that needs access to several remote serial ports that are physically connected to a server pc. I understand that GPSgate will allow multiple apps to access the one serial port, but as you can see, i need one app to access many serial ports. All this should be done over my LAN. I am hoping that this can be done on the ce device without user interaction. I would like the connections to be established on form load (im using for smartdevices) Is this all possible?

You can use GpsGate to forward data the way you describe. Have you tried GpsGate?

For custom WinCE .NET devices (not Pocket PC), we only have GpsGate 1.10, which only can handle one serial port to TCP/IP connection. 2.x can handle any number.

You can also take a look at SerialTools Pro, which you can use inside you VB.NET application. You use the VPort class to create the number of virtual ports you want, and your VB.NET app then forwards data over TCP/IP. On the Server PC, you can typically have GpsGate 2.5 running.
