WinXP with gpsgate goes 100% cpu and locks

Sat Mar 25, 2006 7:45 pm

I just installed gpsgate on another laptop of mine and when I started up gpsgate (no GPS installed) it immediately goes to 100% utilization on the CPU. The settings look like the program locked onto COM1 via 'auto' but I can't click 'stop'.

My computer does not have a COM1...in fact it has no COMs of any kind.

I haven't plugged in the USB<->COM adapter yet :)

Any ideas?

In the early days of GpsGate, it had this kind of problems with some serial drivers, but it was a long time since I heard about any problems.

First time you start GpsGate it should have no settings at all, rather show a Settings dialog where you can configure GpsGate.

You can delete GpsGate's settings by removing
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Franson\GpsGate
in the registry.

no such registry entry. WindowsXP Pro

But shortly after looking for the registry entry the system bluescreened with a problem in the serial driver.

Rebooted and now the problem is gone. Wierd!

Im up and running.
