RE: HTC Universal & GPSGate success, TomTom 5 problems

I am using GpsGate to feed several other progs including TomTom6 on hw6915 running Windows Mobile 5. I believe if you leave internal GPS set to manage automatically it alternates between trying to connect TomTom directly with Windows Intermediate driver & via the virtual COM port output from GpsGate...

RE: No Lat/Lon seen by application software.

Hi Dan This is spec to NMEA RMC sentence, one of several that are output by GPS engines giving lat/long position: $GPRMC Recommended minimum specific GPS/Transit data. NMEA 0183 version 3.00 adds the Mode indicator field #12. Earlier versions don't have this. $GPRMC,hhmmss.ss,A,llll.ll,a,yyyyy.yy,a,...

RE: Ipaq 6915 - Fugawi/TomTom - Port conflict

Looks like the answer will lie with Fugawi. A shot in the dark but worth a try: Using Registry editor which it seems you have, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ ControlPanel \ GpsSettings Here you will find a key called "Hide" with its value set to 1. Change it to 0 (zero). Ater soft reset you will fin...

RE: Ipaq 6915 - Fugawi/TomTom - Port conflict

I have iPAQ hw6915 with TomTom6 & GpsGate configured exactly as your set-up. Works fine using TomTom + other applications simultaneously. I have all my maps + most applications on my storage card (Integral 2MB) Suggest you contact Fugawi as this problem has no connection with GpsGate. It may be just...

RE: problems running gpsgate v2.5.0.196 with vista

Running GpsGate as an application is the "normal" way of running it - you see GpsGate icon bottom right of screen. Running as a Service using option from Start menu, GpsGate runs in background with whatever set-up from when you last ran it as an application. In this mode you get no desktop indicatio...

RE: Cant get gpsgate to wrok with google maps

Sounds like IE7 problem. see if this will help. go to the top of this browser click on "tools" then "internet options" then click on "advanced" then scoll down and look for: "disable script debugging (internet explorer)" "disable script debugging (other)" make sure there is a check mark in each box ...

RE: Product selection

Raymarine's PC/SeaTalk/NMEA Interface box E85001 allows most SeaTalk sentences to be converted to NMEA strings & vice versa. Check out spec at: http://www.raymarine.com/raymarine/SubmittedFiles/Handbooks/raytech/81166_3www.pdf It has a dedicated RS232 output to PC. This NMEA output could be connecte...

Feature request

At present with latest GpsGate 2.5 if the default instance is not receiving data the icon remains red even though another instance is receiving ok. Could Johan consider either a seperate icon for each active instance (a tool tip could verify the instance name) or just allowing present single icon to...

Licence issue

Hi Johan I purchased GpsGate last year & you sent me keys for v 1.1 & 2.0. No problem with version I have been running on my laptop (latest build 196). Having just purchased an iPAQ hw6915 I installed mobile vesion (build 196) on it. It didn't ask for key & worked fine (assumed it cleverly picked up...

RE: iPAQ rx5915 tomtom 6

In my experience, the PPC v5 native virtual "shared" COM: port is pretty much less than useless! Many applications, TomTom included, will not operate with this port if another application is also accessing it. Not surprised to hear above comments however the pre-installed TomTom 5 on my hw6915 & Gps...

RE: iPAQ rx5915 tomtom 6

Just purchased iPAQ hw6915 & was surprised to find that WM5 OS allows multiple programs to access built-in GPS output. If your application requires direct access to GPS source it can be found on COM7 - they suggest baud rate set to 57600. Johan's article dated 9/10/2006 suggested registry change nee...

GpsGate plug-in

I had GpsGate plug-in 1.3 installed & working with IE7 on my laptop running XP Pro + SP2; GpsGate 2.5 latest build. Due to various scripting errors I was obliged to uninstall IE7, which fixed problems. Now with IE6 when I select "Favorites" message comes up that GpsGate is running (its set to run as...

As I said in a previous reply, Furuno use proprietary drivers in NavNet2. It will not work with standard TCP/IP.

RE: Splitting GPS Signal

Ok you should be able to buy an NMEA/RS232 cable probably from the same computer store you buy the USB adaptor, which will allow you to connect to it. No idea what connectors are used on your radio though. My ICOM uses RCA type - suitable connectors should have been supplied with radio. In any case ...

RE: Splitting GPS Signal

Hi Ben I think what you need is a USB-COM port adaptor. They are readily available from computer stores but buy a reputable make as indifferent results with cheaper ones. Once installed on your laptop it will give you physical COM port that will show up in Device Manager. Make a note of number & you...
