RE: GPSGate and 64 bit Vista

Hi Johan

Any idea when a fix to use GpsGate reliably with Vista 64 bit will be at least looked at? It seems that there is plenty of demand now including from myself.

Thanks - Richard

RE: Marine charting for use on a handheld

A few suggestions. Navio is an application that intalls on your iPAQ & PC. It allows you to turn images into indexed charts in order to plot your GPS position. Memory Map & Fugawi offer Windows chartplotter applications that include a module to install version onto your iPAQ. They accept a wide rang...

RE: GPS input from USB mux

There will almost certainly be a COM port associated with the USB input to your PC/laptop from the MUX. This will be the COM port your current navigation software is connected to. Got to Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager/Ports (COM & LPT) for a list of COM ports on your machine. The USB d...

RE: PDA/PPC to recommend with Garmin GPS 18?

I use an HP iPAQ hw6915 PPC running Windows Mobile 5. It has GPS built in & works great with GpsGate. A newer model is just coming onto the market running WM 6.

Hi sylvainp

You could always purchase a USB-COM port adaptor. This would give you a COM port on your laptop to which you could connect the NMEA serial output from your Garmin.

RE: TO CONNECT SHIP'S AIS

I don't think Tsunami '99 will works with AIS. In 1999 AIS was still under development. Try a newer chartpotter on your PC capable of displaying AIS targets.

RE: GpsGate build 239

Thanks for info Johan. For the record I have one entry in my white list: http://franson.com/gpsgate/gps.html This allows the demo to work with GpsGate direct but not with service. Still get "Request not permitted". I don't know what else to add to white list to make this work. In any case it's no bi...

RE: GpsGate build 239

Thanks for fix Johan, but some comments: I installed build 241 over 239 having first stopped GpsGate service. Install ok but got message "Service could not be Deleted" at end plus request to re-boot. Service starts/stops ok now but browser demo will not work either direct (tried that first) or when ...

GpsGate build 239

Thanks for latest version Johan running on XP Pro + SP2 laptop. I note that "Gps in browser" is added to output. The web demo works fine when GpsGate is run direct, but fails when run as service. I also now have intermittent problem when re-starting service (after exiting GpsGate) - I regularly get ...

RE: Installing GPS Gate

Assuming you are using a Windows XP based PC, COM 1 is the generic COM port assigned by the OS. Even if its not physically there it will appear under Device Manager. It's the one that hooks up with an expansion port device on a laptop without COM ports. Consequently if you feed GpsGate with GPS on s...

RE: Multiple GPS's

Hi Howard I would have thought that selecting multiple inputs on GpsGate would allow two or more NMEA sources of whatever type to be selected. I have used this sucessfully with GPS, Boat & AIS data & even ok with different baud rates. The multiplexed result just streams out of GpsGate. Using two sep...

RE: Tray Icon stays red for "non-default" Instance

Hi Johan

Any idea when the feature to allow all instances to turn icon green will be implemented?

I note several people have mentioned this problem.

Another suggestion would be a separate icon for each instance with a tooltip showing instance name.

RE: Tracker program? or alternative?

3. It should record a time stamp with each location record, so I'll know what time it was when I was at that location (good for geotagging photos) You have this already. Assuming your GPS engine outputs the NMEA RMC sentence, & most do, there is a time & date field within it as well as position. Reg...

RE: HTC Universal & GPSGate success, TomTom 5 problems

Hi Jason Working in the dark here as don't have WM6 device. Assuming the 5Hz issue is a dead end, it seems your problems are maybe caused by howl-round. This would explain the higher rate of NMEA transmissions. Not sure why you have GpsGate feeding the Windows GPS server. If this is similar to the W...
