RE: GpsGate freeze when attemting to use gps.gate

Using Windows 7 RTM x64. Have found that I get freeze after a few seconds every time I access gpsgate.com (receive) setup window. OK button is then outlined in blue. Equally I can unfreeze by running task manager (without doing anything else) for the same few seconds. By repeating this process I man...

GpsGate freeze when attemting to use gps.gate

Have been using GpsGate on my laptop running both 32 & 64 bit versions of Windows 7 without problems for several months now. Having set up Nokia N97 to feed gpsgate.com successfully, I tried to set up GpsGate on my laptop to receive from it. Whilst entering username/password I got freeze with OK but...

RE: how to create virtual serial port as COM1-4?

<Those ports do not exist on my machine, yet they are not available as new Virtual COM ports in GpsGate.> Most likely they were created by bluetooth device. They will not been seen in Device Manger until Bluetooth turned on, although the system has them permanently allocated through COM name arbiter...

RE: Wire Connections

If that is true then I need something like a Keyspan 19HS USB to serial interface (Walmart and other places). Right?

Yes [:)]

RE: Input/Output to multiple devices

As I understand it, in a scenario where GpsGate is used to feed GPS NMEA to several virtual ports, any one can feed data back to the source port assuming "block data to output" is not ticked (which changes rules for all virtual ports). I have successfully used this feature on one of three virtual po...

RE: Gpsgate icon missing from system tray

You have to run GpsGate in normal mode to change settings. Stop service then run in normal mode. Change settings by right clicking GpsGate icon in tray & choosing Settings. When finished exit prog & re-start as service.

RE: gpsgate + ms vista + virtual com ports - NOT

I have latest GpsGate 2.6.0.340 running fine as service on Vista 32 bit with several virtual ports. I am about to buy new laptop with Vista 64 pre-installed. I thought that from 240 onwards it was compatible with this OS accepting that maybe you have to copy C:\Program Files (x86)\Franson\GpsGate 2....

RE: GpsGate slowing updates

cletusb - please read Johan's link again. It quite clearly states that the info refers to ANY GPS device that has a fast data stream. Setting PvtInterval to 5000 should fix your problem although it can't be higher than the GPS device output rate.

RE: How to stop GpsGate connecting to mobile internet?

I'm guessing that GpsGate is not responsible for your automatic 3G connection, it's the built in GPS itself. You could also test my theory by running any other application that starts up the GPS. If you still get your device trying to connect to Internet, try disabling any Quick connection applicati...

RE: How to stop GpsGate connecting to mobile internet?

Firstly you cannot delete GpsGate Direct Output, it's inherant in the basic working of GpsGate. I think your 3g connection may be caused be built in GPS trying to gain access to the net to update almanac. On my iPAQ 6915 an application called "Quick GPS connection" runs in the background regularly t...

RE: Toolbars missing - Vista busines 32bit - 2.6

Your message prompted me to look at my 32 bit dual boot XP Pro+SP3/Vista Home Premium+SP1 system. I have latest IE8 beta & GpsGate service running on both. Under XP the GpsGate plug-in is there on Vista it isn't - not under manage plug-ins either.

Many thanks Johan. Having set up XP with GpsGate service several years ago, I had forgotten about shared settings issue on the recent Vista installation.

virtual ports not created when running as service

I have dual boot XP+SP3/Vista+SP1 32 bit laptop. I run GpsGate 2.6.0.340 as a service with three virtual ports as output. This works fine under XP both normal & service mode, but with Vista it only works in normal mode. GpsGate Service under Vista is reported as running ok but the various applicatio...

COM port enumeration on PC

Windows (XP, Vista, Win 7) has a habit of using ever increasing COM port numbers even after devices that previously used them have been removed. This is bad news for applications that require connection to COM port number < 10 for example, especially as Device Manager will not allow manual allocatio...
