RE: Automatically opening/closing GPS port

I couldn't get this to work, so wrote a MortScript to run at startup, after GPSGate, which opens/closes the port. This seems to work, and ensures the hardware switches off until it's really needed.

RE: Automatically opening/closing GPS port

After setting the 'Conserve power' checkbox a number of times (it kept unchecking in the GUI) and soft-resetting a couple of times, it seems to have started working! It now 'pauses' the gps com port until it is accessed via the virtual com port as expected, and closes it after use. The only problem ...

RE: Automatically opening/closing GPS port

No, none of those set. Not sure we're talking about the same thing though. Although I do want it to shut the gps com port when unused, I also want to automatically have it connect the gps port ONLY when apps are accessing it via the virtual com port. I had this working in previous versions (with a d...

RE: Automatically opening/closing GPS port

Tried that, but it doesn't automatically CONNECT to the gps port as well as disconnect when idle. How can I make it auto connect when first used as well? (as it seemed to do in previous versions)

Thanks

Automatically opening/closing GPS port

If I remember rightly, my previous setup (v1.1) would open the GPS port automatically when an application accessed the Virtual COM port. However, in v2.5 it doesn't attempt to open the GPS port when my app tries to connect. (I am using a new PDA, an XDA Orbit now, which has built-in GPS rather than ...

'Restart at soft reset'

On my Dell Axim X5, GPSGate always greys the option 'Restart at soft reset'. I have manually added a GPSGate shortcut in my Startup folder so it starts each reset. However, now I am wondering if this greyed option is supposed to register GPSGate with the system to startup each time, much like a Serv...

Thank you. Can we expect a fix for this in the next version?
It currently stops me using the two apps I purchased GPSGate to share the GPS for.

RE: GPSGate and low memory

Looks like something that needs to be fixed soon, as it is pretty unusable like this, and other users are having the same problem here:

RE: GpsGate freezes only reset helps

I have been having a similar problem, and had tracked it down (I think) to memory consumption. As you say, Windows Mobile DOES shut applications that haven't got the focus if memory is tight, and this is when GPSGate freezes. Unfortunately WM closes apps even if memory is not particularly low (some ...

GPSGate and low memory

I have noticed that if I have several applications running, even if there is a reasonable amount of memory left, the OS will close some of them, including GPSGate it seems! On occassion, I have found that GPS comms are lost and apps are being closed, and this leads me to believe that the OS has actu...
