RE: Exception setting position on a shape file

Well, if I use your sample polygon shape file, then that code does work.

What am I supposed to do?

RE: Exception setting position on a shape file

HI, code is based on your Shapeviewer sample. If nodePosition.Grid = 0 Then nodePosition.Grid = GpsToolsNET.Grid.BRITISH_GRID nodePosition.Zone = "30" End If At this point, checking the zone, it is an empty string I then set the map position lat and long and then do With map1.Position If .Easting >=...

RE: Exception setting position on a shape file

Hi,
I set the grid to the 'British grid', and the zone to 30, but I still get the same error.

Setting the zone to 30 seems to have no effect, as it is empty after I set it

Thanks

Exception setting position on a shape file

Hi, I have a shape file, and am trying to determine if my GPS position is on the map. To do this, I am setting the position using map1.position.longitude and map1.position.longitude I then check if I am on the map by checking the easting and northing against minx, maxx etc but this gives me an error...

RE: Shape Files

Hi,
thanks for that - what about 'tapping' on the map and returning the lat/long?

Shape Files

We have been asked to look at project using 'shp' files. Currently, we have a project that uses Virtual Earth on a PocketPC, and we can flip to the tile, and display our position using VE, click on the map, and return the new Lat/Long to our app. I know nothing about shp files - is the same thing po...

Lat/Long fluctuations when static

Hi,
how do people deal with the fact that the lat/long constantly changes when the GPS is not moving, and if you take notice of it, you can display a speed, distance travelled etc, although the GPS has never moved?

Thanks

Bluetooth, GPS and Bonding

Hi,
how would I best go about checking if a bluetooth GPS is already paired with the PDA, and if not, pairing it automatically when I discover it

Thanks

Trimble units

Hi, this may help others in the future. We were having problems connecting to Trimble GPS units, both the ProxH bluetooth and the GeoXT. We were using baudrate = 0, to use an automatic rate, and were never getting a connection. When this was changed to 4800, we could get a connection. Looks like the...

RE: How to use 'quality' output

Hi,
so HDOP will give me the current accuracy in metres? So what will PDOP give me?

Thanks

How to use 'quality' output

Hi,
I am looking to signal to the users how 'accurate' their position is. Presumably I would use 'quality' to do this, but how do I use it, e.g. warn them if accuracy is compromised?

Thanks

RE: Couple of questions on .NET CF version

Hi,
we should be using the latest beta. The problem is possibly only a problem when 'breaking' the application in .Net development, where we would never call the .dispose. I will test it and let you know - thanks.

Seems like a great product

Couple of questions on .NET CF version

Hi,
if we use .ComPort = 0, and let the s/ware find the GPS unit, after stopping the program and restarting, we lose access to GPRS (this is an XDAii). If we use .ComPort = 5, this is not a problem.

Have you got a sample of distance calculation using the new .distance in beta 2.2?

Thanks

RE: VB.Net Compact Framework error

Hi,
Tried the beta of 2.2 and the app no longer aborts [:)]. Is there a way to signal that the open has failed, i.e. the device is switched off, out of range etc

Sorry - found it. I can check ValidNMEA

Thanks

Pete
