GUIDE: Setup Eco Report with ATrack

Fri Nov 09, 2012 5:32 pm

ECO Report configuration for ATrack

This guide shows how you configure your ATrack device and GpsGate Server to monitor harsh driving, speeding and excessive idling using the Eco Report Plugin.

1. Prerequisites

You have a GpsGate Server installation with ATrack devices (this guide does not cover basic device setup).

Verify that:
  • Your GpsGate Server is updated with the latest ATrack and VarPack2 Plugins

  • The device is mounted according to recommendations from ATrack

2. Device setup: Harsh events and User defined reports

Connect your ATrack device with a serial cable and use a hyper terminal software to send the following AT-commands. Use the default values below to get started. You can change them later if you want to calibrate your fleet to your own threshold values.

Configure your ATrack device to use ASCII protocol (binary protocol is not yet supported).
AT$FORM=0,@P,0,""

Set the harsh braking event when the vehicle has a negative G-force more than 250mg for 500 ms by using G-sensor data source.
AT$HBKE=2,250,5

Set the harsh acceleration event when the vehicle has a G-force more than 250mg for 500 ms by using G-sensor data source.
AT$HACE=2,250,5

Set the harsh cornering event when the vehicle has a centrifugal G-force more than 325mg for 500 ms by using G-sensor data source.
AT$HCOR=2,250,5

Set "report action" to send a report over GPRS
AT$RACT=1,2,2

Configure report 101 for Harsh Braking
AT$REPT=101,1,”%HB”,”1”,0,1

Configure report 102 for Harsh Acceleration
AT$REPT=102,1,”%HA”,”1”,0,1

Configure report 103 for Harsh Cornering
AT$REPT=103,1,”%HC”,”1”,0,1

3. Application setup: Configure Device mapper

Login to VehicleTracker as an administrator.

Select the ATrack device mapper and map the following signals:

"The input you have connected to the vehicle ignition signal" = "Ignition"
"Report101" = "HarshBreakingDigital"
"Report102" = "HarshAccelerationDigital"
"Report103" = "HarshTurningDigital"

Save the Device mapper.

4. Application setup: Install ECO Report Plugin

Follow this setup guide to install the Eco Report Plugin:

I have already used Report-Id from 101 to 109 for other events. Is there any way to deal with this without changing ReportIDs at my end ? However, changing the ReportIDs at my end is not a big issue except that we'll have to change the Event-Rules which might affect the old report data from the date of change of Report-IDs. :)

I guess we can add some more ReportXYZ to the device mapper. How many have you already used?

I have used about 10. But this can go up to 164. And different people across the globe would have their own ReportID allocations. I would suggest, instead of providing as many as fields as ReportXYZ, Let there be dynamic fields that could be defined as ReportID = X1 => <FieldName1>, ReportID = X2 => <FieldName2>.

Referred from latest ATrack protcol document 1.3.4..

AT1 supports ReportID from 101 to 132. All models above AT1 support ReportID from 101 to 164. (Page# 94 of the protocol document)

All models support %HA Vehicle harsh acceleration event status and %HB Vehicle harsh brake event status. But only models above AT5 support %HC Vehicle harsh cornering event status. (Page# 95 of the protocol document)

Dear support,

I use AT1 and AT5, hopefully it is not much trouble to provide Report101 to Report164 on next ATrack plugin update

Thank you.

I use AT$REPT 125 for harsh braking, 135 for harsh acceleration, and 145 for harsh cornering. Is there anyway to configure the ECO report to use my preconfigured AY5 reports?
