Goolge Maps Error when server accessed over VPN

Sat Sep 09, 2017 2:11 pm

Our GPS gate server is not accessible from the internet, but users sometimes access the server over our VPN.

For some reason we can only use Bing Maps or Open Layers maps when accessing over the VPN. Attempts to use Google Maps doesn't work. After briefly flashing the correct map on the screen the map graphic is replaced with the following message.

Oops! Something went wrong.
This page didn't load Google Maps correctly. See the JavaScript console for technical details.

Any idea what is going on and how to fix it?

Thanks
Andy

Hi,
Two most likely causes:
1) You are not using a google maps key, or an invalid one. Check that in SiteAdmin->Maps->Google Maps
2) You have set up http referral restrictions for the key that can't be verified by Google Maps when using VPN.
Read more here.
