Bluetooth Paging not working with widcomm stack

Sat Sep 02, 2006 4:54 pm

Hi,

I have 2 PDAs. One with a Widcomm stack and the other a Microsoft Bluetooth Stack. I have a Bluetooth device that pages the PDAs in the area. The Microsoft Bluetooth stack successfully establishes a connection with the remote bt device and data is transferred. The widcomm stack however cannot establish the connection. If I look at the Bluetooth manager I see that the remote device is trying to connect to the widcomm PDA (incoming serial connection). So it is definitely at the software level where Bluetools does not get triggered of an incoming connection. It seems to me a bug in the bluetools.

Is this a known bug?

Thanks Peter

Yes, but you are working with two PDAs, no?

What are you using BlueTools for in this scenario?

The PDA runs a local service and waits for incoming bt connections. Like your SimpleService application. The problem is that the widcomm PDA does not get notified of an incoming bluetooth connection wheras the Microsfot Bluetooth PDA is. So same code on two different types of PDA and the widcomm PDA not getting notified.

Peter

Here is the code i use to advertise the service

manager = Manager.GetManager();

// Call events in new thread (multi-threading)
manager.Parent = null;

// Get first network (BlueTools 1.0 only supports one network == one dongle)
network = manager.Networks[0];

// Create local service
service = new LocalService(ServiceType.SerialPort, "SerialPort", activeSensor);

// Called when client connected to service
service.ClientConnected += new BlueToolsEventHandler(OnServiceClientConnected);

// Called when client disconnected from service
service.ClientDisconnected += new BlueToolsEventHandler(OnServiceClientDisconnected);

// Called when service successfully is advertised to server
service.Advertised += new BlueToolsEventHandler(OnServiceAdvertised);

// Called when all connection to service closed, and service removed from server
service.Deadvertised += new BlueToolsEventHandler(OnServiceDeadvertised);

// Advertise that PDA can receive SerialPort connections
network.Server.Advertise(service);

Hi!
We have to run this scenario and see what's going on.
So what brand and model is the PDA that does not work and which stack version?
What stack is it on the connecting remote device, and if it is Widcomm, which version?

Hi

Sorry not to reply earlier but here are the details

PDA: I-mate PDA2k
Widcomm stack version: 1.0.0.3900

The Paging device is an A&D BLuetooth enable scale. I do not have the info which bluetooth stack they use.

I use a Bluetooth enable weight scale that pages the PDA when data is available. On the PDA I see in the Bluetooth manager an incoming Bluetooth connection. So the PDA does receive the data. It is the franson bluetools software that does not get triggered of the incoming connection.

Regards

Peter
