How to install GpsGate Express from memory card

Wed Dec 20, 2006 3:57 pm

How can I reinstall GpsGate from memory card in case of pocket pc reset (e.g. due to flat batery), witout access to a PC with ActiveSync?
My Navmen pocket PC does not have a safe ROM to install software in to, so every time battery goes flat it does the hardware resets loosing all installed programs (except Windows ofcourse). Navman provided SmartST software version that can be installed form SD memory card, without need of CDs and PC .
Can this be done with GpsGate Express?

You can try to use the CAB files:

GpsGate 2.0.1
http://franson.com/gpsgate/GpsGatePPC.arm.CAB

GpsGate 1.10i
http://franson.com/gpsgate/GpsGatePPC.arm.110.CAB

CAB files can install directly from the device, and you can store them on your memory card. However I think the Pocket PC 2003 and earlier deleted the CAB file after install. This is not the case in WM5 though.

Try it and see how it solves your problem.

You can always "write-protect" the .CAB files files to stop them being deleted after install.
